International service provider: Helping to improve the lives of offshore workers
Further project details under NDA
Recruitment is often the hardest part of most discovery projects
Often recruitment of research participants can be the hardest part of a project. Recruiting offshore workers was certainly a challenge as they are away for weeks at a time.
A large amount of the user research was conducted in an ad-hoc manner. This meant that we found areas where offshore workers were likely to be and approached them for an informal chat.
Co-design workshop with offshore workers
From the ad-hoc user research conducted we gained an understanding of the main pain points that they felt in their day-to-day life. using this knowledge we analysed where potential opportunity areas for improvement could be.
We focused upon these opportunity areas and ideated potential solutions. We further validated these possible pain points and opportunity areas through a co-design workshop.
This co-design workshop brought together different type of offshore workers to help us understand how potential solutions could work across varying areas of offshore life.
Putting prototypes in the hands of the end user
The solutions that had met the user needs were further developed throughout the co-creation workshop. We then expanded further on these and created digital prototypes. We then put these prototypes into the hands of offshore workers to further validate and understand if they were viable solutions. This enabled us to decide what services and product areas should be further explored.
